(For Annie, I will post. Though I do quite enjoy the mini-conversation that the Google blog inspired!)

Today, it is cold. Winter has arrived. Two weeks ago I mowed the lawn and now it's covered with about 2 inches of snow. Here's something weird-- When I drove to work on Thursday morning, I passed 3 accidents! Anchorage is a very transient community, but still... I was surprised. The roads were in awesome shape compared to KY roads after a tiny snow like that, which is great, because I don't have snow tires, yet. Tomorrow, with the time change, the sun will come up at about 7:00 and set at 6:00. Not so bad. Today I soaked in the sun on a (very cold) beach walk!

Annie, I have not read it. Amy has a copy.

I have heard him speak. He was "warmup" for John Edwards last election. 0bama was a real relief from all the hype and commotion.

He's plenty smart, doesn't appear to be a person who would be swayed by militarism , corruption,or personal ambition.

people say he's "inexperienced." I think that means he doesnt play the game yet, and to me that's a good qualification.

I want someone at the head who will be able to "un ask the question" because he really believes in positive possibilities.

Amy, should we read the book?

upon further conversation with amylouise, it seems the obama book she has is the first one, something about dreams of my father. i was thinking of the new book, the audacity of hope: thoughts on reclaiming the american dream. i'm sure it's part of his strategy for running for prez one of these days, and it's probably not a bad strategy at that.
